Caterpillar PupPET

Recently I went on a socks craze and bought quite a lot of them to make socks puppet. Among my favorites are these two knee length socks so I decided to turn them into caterpillar puppets for Maya. She took to them immediately and it was hard to convince her to leave them in her toy box before going off to bed. :p

Items: knee length socks, recyclable chopstick, scissors, felt buttons, sewing thread, needle, ribbons, poly fill fiber and colorful puff balls.

Method: Cut the sock at the ankle and use only the upper part.

Turn it inside out and sew one end shut. Turn it right side out and fill the sock with poly fill fiber. Remember to shape it into a tube while filling the sock up. Sew the other end shut. ( sew a running stitch and pull. Tie a dead knot to end it.)

Sew the colorful puff balls and eyes on the caterpillar. In Maya's case, she insisted on a nose too.

Then use the ribbon and tie down hard on the neck and the tail of the caterpillar. You can make a longer ribbon and tie the recyclable chopstick to form a handle, or you can just make it into a wristlet caterpillar with a shorter ribbon on the neck. There you have it. Simple caterpillar sock puppet.
